Called To Serve

  • We minister through pastoral care and parish ministry.
  • We offer opportunities for prayer, retreat and spiritual direction.
  • We are counselors, therapists and teachers. We work in social services.
  • We work with immigrants within the United States.
  • We serve as missionaries in Latin America.

The Franciscan value of minority or littleness is the foundation for seeing ourselves as sister to all peoples and to all creation. In turn, what we bring to our diverse ministries is a deep belief that every person, and every living being whom we meet is our sister or brother. These sister/brother relationships are encounters in the mystery of God's love, for God is the one who created us all. This deep belief is central to our Franciscan charism.

Thus, our ministry is characterized not so much by what  we do as by how  we do it. Our service to the Church and the world reflects our commitment to walk with those who are poor and marginalized, with those in need of healing, and with those who hunger for God. Our ministries and way of life also reflect our commitment to care for the earth.

While the majority of our sisters and associates live and serve in Minnesota, some of us minister in California, Mississippi, Texas and Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua and beyond.

Others who join in this call to service are the Franciscan Community Volunteers (FCVs). FCVs dedicate a year to living in intentional community and serving those in need in the St. Cloud area.
