Saved by Strength competition--a huge success

St. Francis Health and Wellness Center, Little Falls, held its’ inaugural Saved by Strength event on Saturday, December 2. Twenty-three men and women competed for the title of “champion” as more than 75 spectators cheered them on! Participants included competitors from Adult and Teen Challenge, Health and Wellness members, the local Little Falls community and others from Princeton and Swanville.

The competition consisted of farmer’s carry, axle deadlift, log press and a tire flip/sandbag medley. The word most used by participants and spectators was “inspirational!” Jan Burley, manager of Health and Wellness, welcomed everyone and then turned it over to the Adult & Teen Challenge group who led the crowd in the National Anthem. Jan’s staff, Holly Pelzer and Jay Grove, provided set up and timing duties while National Strong Man competitor Karl Gillingham judged the events.

Pictured below is overall 1st place in the women’s category went to Bobbi Snow, Princeton! Overall 1st place in the men’s category went to Jordan Fellbaum, Swanville!

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a community of Catholic women religious who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, walking in the footsteps of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. We believe that the living of a poor, simple and prayerful community life is a ministry of presence and witness. Our doors are open to the public to celebrate Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel and to benefit from the St. Francis Music Center and St. Francis Health & Recreation Center. We welcome those who wish to join us as sisters, associates, volunteers, transfer sisters, friends and donors.
