Good Friday Walk for Peace in Little Falls

Over 40 individuals comprised of Franciscan Sisters, Franciscan Associates, employees and friends of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls participated in a Silent Walk for Peace on Good Friday, April 3.  Beginning at the west entrance of St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, the group walked in silence to various sites in Little Falls to pray while participants took turns carrying a large wooden Cross. Sister Janice Wiechman carries the Cross as the procession began.

Participants on the Silent Walk for Peace stopped to pray at a number of sites in Little Falls, including St. Gabriel’s Hospital, Morrison County Jail and Government Center, Bank Square, Mississippi River Bridge and Dam, Maple Island Park, Shelly Funeral Service and First United Church. Shown here the group pauses for prayer and song at the Veteran’s Memorial. Bringing the Cross to various locations gives a graphic reminder of the presence of Jesus, especially in our sufferings. In addition, it reminds us to continue to pray for one another.

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a community of Catholic women religious who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, walking in the footsteps of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. We believe that the living of a poor, simple and prayerful community life is a ministry of presence and witness. Our doors are open to the public to celebrate Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel and to benefit from the St. Francis Music Center and St. Francis Health & Recreation Center. We welcome those who wish to join us as sisters, associates, volunteers, transfer sisters, friends and donors.
