“We, as black women religious and associates, stand in solidarity with those who seek peace and justice in the tragic shooting and death of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, Mo., police officer. This incident is the latest of several recent tragic events between blacks and white police officers in our country.
“We hold in prayer the Brown family, the police officer and is family and the Ferguson community.
“Together we form a strong and cohesive voice in support of the dignity of all persons and in confronting the sin of racism. We realize that we have issues of violence to address within our communities and take that responsibility seriously. In keeping with our mission, we will continue to work for the development of just social systems and institutions.”
