Sister Gloria entered the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls when she was in her 40s. Entering a religious order had been in Sister Gloria's mind when she was in her 20s. But it seemed that God was calling her to be near her parents as they were older, and she wanted to help them in their older years. Her grandparents had a deep faith in God and passed that faith on to her parents, to her and to her siblings. She says, "I wanted to serve my parents in their old age. My mother died of pancreatic cancer when she was 67. For six months I did everything I could to help her stay home as was her wish. After she died in 1979, I helped my dad move from the family home to Assisted Living and finally to a Nursing Home. He died in 1995 when he was 91 years old."
