About Us

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a Roman Catholic Congregation of religious women of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi. We dedicate ourselves to living joyfully through the Franciscan values of conversion, contemplation, poverty, and minority.

We are committed to a life of prayer, simple living, and service to those in need. We are dedicated to promoting human rights, building community wherever we live, and healing the sources of Mother Earth's wounds.

Located in the heartland of Minnesota, USA, we number 170 sisters and are joined by over 240 associates. While the majority of our Sisters live and minister in Minnesota, some of us minister in Arizona, California, Illinois, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin, Ecuador and Mexico. Our associates are from several U.S. states as well as from Ecuador, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

We look into our rich heritage and proclaim:

• We follow the Spirit of Francis and Clare.
• We live the Gospel joyfully and courageously in continuous conversion.
• We seek solidarity with persons who are poor.
• We reverence and preserve all of God's creation.
• We recognize the need for healing in ourselves and in our world.
• Strengthened by God's overflowing love, we walk gently in the world and actively encourage others to walk with us.

We commit ourselves to:

• engage deeply with our Franciscan charism.
• dedicate ourselves to rebuilding the church.
• address the sources of Mother Earth's wounds.
• embrace thouse whom we, as society and church, marginalize.
