About Us
The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a Roman Catholic Congregation of religious women of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi. We dedicate ourselves to living joyfully through the Franciscan values of conversion, contemplation, poverty, and minority.
We are committed to a life of prayer, simple living, and service to those in need. We are dedicated to promoting human rights, building community wherever we live, and healing the sources of Mother Earth's wounds.
Located in the heartland of Minnesota, USA, we number 145 sisters and are joined by over 260 associates. While the majority of our Sisters live and minister in Minnesota, some of us minister in Arizona, California, Illinois, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin, Ecuador and Mexico. Our associates are from several U.S. states as well as from Ecuador, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls 'Wordle'
Last fall, in preparation for our Delegate Assembly, a meeting held once every five years, the entire community of sisters and associates engaged in a process where they were asked to name ”Dreams to be Pursued” in the future. After discussion about these dreams at the Delegate Assembly, we decided to express the energy and spirit coming from the 2011 Delegate Assembly in a Wordle.
What is a Wordle? The Wordle is a computer program designed to generate “word clouds” from text that is inserted into the program. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. Our ‘word cloud’ brought to the fore those words that were mentioned most often and which had greatest importance for the community. The Wordle now guides us as we enter into visioning and planning for our future.
The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a community of Catholic women religious who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, walking in the footsteps of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. We believe that the living of a poor, simple and prayerful community life is a ministry of presence and witness. Our doors are open to the public to celebrate Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel and to benefit from the St. Francis Music Center and St. Francis Health & Recreation Center. We welcome those who wish to join us as sisters, associates, volunteers, transfer sisters, friends and donors.
