Sister Agnes Soenneker
Sister Agnes Soenneker, 68, died on December 28, 2007 at her home, Clare’s Well, Annandale, Minn.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Francis Convent on Thursday, Janury 3, at 11 a.m. Arrangements were made by the Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls.
Sister Agnes was born on July 16, 1939 in Sauk Centre, Minn. She was the sixth of seven children born to the late Theodore and Catherine (Hellermann) Soenneker. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on July 31, 1957. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1959, and final vows on August 12, 1962. She was a Franciscan Sister for 50 years.
Sister Agnes ministered as a missionary, member of Franciscan Sisters Leadership Team, healing and retreat minister and was a farmer at heart. She served in Little Falls, Moorhead, Annandale, Minn.; Prestonburg, Ky; Nicaragua and Maracay, Venezuela.
Sister Agnes is survived by her sister, Rita Primus, Sauk Centre; brothers Francis (Janet) Soenneker, Richmond; Arnold Soenneker, Sauk Centre; sister-in-law Alice Soenneker, Sauk Centre, numerous nephews and nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and her Franciscan Community. She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Catherine (Hellermann) Soenneker; brother, Jerome Soenneker; sisters Adella Meyer and Mary Mader; brothers-in-law Chryst Primus, Romie Meyer, and Floyd Mader.

Sister Mary Ignatia Zastrow, 88, died on November 15, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Monday, November 19, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Sunday, November 18, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Monday, November 19. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 18.
Arrangements are by the Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls.
Sister Mary Ignatia was born on September 17, 1919, near Cold Spring, Minn. She was the ninth of 12 children born to the late Fred and Magdalena (Sasgen) Zastrow. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls Minnesota on August 12, 1938. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1940, and final vows on August 12, 1943. She was a Franciscan Sister for 69 years
Sister Ignatia ministered as a laundress, gardener, kitchen aide and a visitor to the sick and elderly. She served in Breckenridge, St. Cloud, Perham, Moorhead, Sauk Centre and Little Falls.
Sister Ignatia was preceded in death by siblings: Rose, Olive Novatny, Clara Kelting, Martha Remmele, Michael, Joseph, and Marion Kost. Survivors include siblings: George, Roseville; Thomas, White Bear Lake; Florence Wakefield, Kenosha, Wis.; and May Walentiny, Minneapolis; nieces and nephews and her Franciscan Community.

Sister Mary Beata (Dorothy) Lorsung, 93, died on October 11, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Monday, October 15, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Sunday, October 14 from 4 - 8 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Monday, October 15. Sister Mary Beata was born on June 28, 1914, in Brandon, Minn. She was the sixth of eight children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Butala) Lorsung. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1935. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1937, and final vows on August 12, 1940. She was a Franciscan Sister for 72 years.
Sister Beata ministered in education and pastoral ministry. She taught at St. Francis High School, 1940-1972 and researched/wrote the history of the Franciscan Sisters. She served in Little Falls, Fergus Falls, Morris, White Bear Lake, Flensburg, St. Cloud, Minnesota; South Milwaukee, Wis. and Tucson, Ariz.
Sister Beata was preceded in death by siblings: Elsie Kapphahn, Adeline Finnin, Walter, James, Irene Raddatz and Helen Hoffman. Survivors include her sister, Florence McClintock, Alexandria; nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred. |

Sister Mary Priscilla ( Frances) Malley, 92, died on June 25, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn.

Sister Priscilla was born on May 28, 1915, in Eveleth, Minn. She was the first of two children born to the late Francis and Frances (Cherne) Malley. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1940. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1942, and final vows on August 12, 1947. She was a Franciscan Sister for 66 years.
Sister Priscilla ministered as an elementary and secondary teacher and a librarian. She served in Little Falls, St. Cloud, Browns Valley, Fergus Falls, Morris, Breckenridge, Foley and Waite Park.
Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Larson, Buhl; nieces, nephews and cousins, and her Franciscan Community.

Sister Clara Frey, 89, died on March 20, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Saturday, March 24, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Friday, March 23, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on March 24. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23.

Sister Clara was born on January 27, 1918, near Randall, Minn. She was the fourth of seven children born to the late August and Katheryn (Kempenich) Frey. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister on August 12, 1945. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1947, and final vows on August 12, 1950. She was a Franciscan Sister for 61 years.
Sister Clara ministered as a staff nurse and pastoral associate. She served in Dodgeville, and Darlington, Wis,; Tucson, Ariz.; Perham, Onamia, Breckenridge, Little Canada and Little Falls, Minn.
Sister Clara was preceded in death by siblings: Mathilda Botsford, Veronica Schommer, Catherine Ruths, Arnold and Joseph. She is survived by her brother, Albert (Eleanor), Randall, nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan Community. |

Sister Mary Joyce (Armella) Brandl, 84, died on February 23, 2007, at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Sister Joyce was born on March 14, 1922, in Buckman, Minn. She was the fourth of six children born to Joseph and Rose (Janson) Brandl. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1940. She made first profession on August 12, 1942, and final vows on August 12, 1945. She was a Franciscan Sister for 64 years.
Sister Joyce ministered as director and instructor of dietetics, nutritionist, clinical consultant dietitian, director of health, home economics teacher, retreat and spiritual director. She served in Breckenridge, Brainerd and Little Falls, Minn.; Cudahy, Wis. and Tucson, Ariz.
Sister Joyce was preceded in death by siblings: Erwin, Marion Lonsdale and Reverend Leo. Survivors include siblings: Bernard (Lois), Brainerd, and Doris O’Rourke, Portage, Wis.; sister-in-law Rose, Rochester; nieces, nephews and her Franciscan Community.

Sister Mary Theresa Kimlinger, 89, died on February 22, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday, February 27, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Monday, February 26, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday.

Sister Mary Theresa was born on June 1, 1917, near Watkins, Minn. She was the seventh (and only girl) of ten children born to the late Peter and Theresa (Polster) Kimlinger. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 10, 1934, and given the religious name Sister Mary Thecla. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1936, and final vows on August 12, 1939. She was a Franciscan Sister for 73 years.
She ministered as a staff nurse, nurse anesthetist and medical records librarian. She served at Breckenridge, Little Falls, Onamia, and Perham, Minn.
Sister Mary Theresa was preceded in death by all of her brothers: John, Joseph, Leo, Frank, Anthony, William Nick, Edmund and Peter. Survivors include sisters-in-law: Clara, St. Paul, and Evelyn McMahon, Richmond; many nieces and nephews and her Franciscan Community.

Sister Mary Thomas (Mary Ann) Weyandt, 84, died on January 24, 2007, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital, Little Falls, Minn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday, January 30, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Monday, January 29 from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on January 30.

She was a Franciscan Sister for 66 years.
Sister Mary Thomas ministered in health care all her religious life. She served in Little Falls, Breckenridge, Onamia, St. Paul and St. Cloud, Minn., and Milwaukee and South Milwaukee, Wis.
Sister Mary Thomas was preceded in death by siblings: Edward, Margaret Petsch, Josephine Maietta, Sister Karline, OSF, John, James, and Joseph. Survivors include siblings: Sister Mary Giles, OSF, Elk River, and Thomas (Ruth), St. Paul; sister-in-law Beverly (James) Weyandt, Brooklyn Park; nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan Community.
