Jordie Stay of Jordie’s Trailside Café in Bowlus, presented $1,012.50 to Franciscan Sister Joan Gerads’ ministry in Ecuador. “We became good friends when my niece, Bev, would take me out for dinner at her favorite place—Jordie’s,” Sister Joan said. “We stop each time I am home and, over the visits, I’ve shared about the ministry and the people of Ecuador. I’m grateful for Jordie and all who share and make possible, as Saint Francis heard from God, for us to ‘Go and rebuild my church.’” Jordie said, “Ever since we opened in 2008, on Christmas Day, the café is open for anyone who needs a place to be. We gratefully accept free-will offering and all of the proceeds go to a charity. These donations were split evenly between a Place of Hope in St. Cloud and Sister Joan’s ministries in Ecuador.”Left Photo: Celebrating the friendship between Sister Joan Gerads and Jordie Stay are (standing from left) Sister Bea Eichten--Community Minister of the Franciscan Sisters, Judy Virnig, Veronica Salazar, Sister Bernice Ebner, Bev Gerads and Roger Virnig; (front from left) Sonya Stay, Sister Joan Gerads, Rosie Keeler and Jordie Stay.Right photo: Presenting the $1,012.50 check to Sister Joan Gerads (left) are the three generations of Jordie’s family, daughter—Sonya, Jordie and mother Rosie Keeler.
